Steve
Segrest, age 57, born 11-16-1948 Auburn, Alabama. Youngest son of the late
Henry Neill and Florida Broward Segrest. I was reared in Tuskeegee and attended
public school through the 11th grade, my senior year. I attended and graduated
from Camden Military in Camden, S.C. Class of 1967. Attended LaGrange College,
in LaGrange, GA, receiving an A.B in 1972. Did graduate study at the University
of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, MS. Married to the former Dianne Miller,
we have 3 children, and they with their spouses have blessed us with 8 grandchildren,
6 boys and 2 girls, and our ninth grandchild is due in September. Dianne and
I are Presbyterian by profession of faith, and I was humbled to be ordained
an Elder in 1987. I come from a very politically active family, my mother
was the 1st woman elected to chair a County Commission in Alabama. My father
was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives, and served from the late
1930's until the mid 1950s. My maternal grandfather Napoleon B. Broward, was
a former Sheriff of Duval County Florida and former Governor of the state
of Florida. He died in 1911, just prior to taking office as United States
Senator from Florida.
